Mark your calendars . . . Thursday, February 13, 2003 at 12:15 at Cabrillo Cafe on Thornton Avenue in Fremont, the new Fremont Club will have its Permanent Officer's Meeting. Fremont requests all who are available to attend.
On March 15, 2003, at a place to be designated, the Fremont Club will host a Charter Party in celebration of their new club.

Covenant of Service
Accepting the divine privilege, of single and collective responsibility as life's noblest gift, I covenant with my fellow Exchangites:
To consecrate my best energies to the uplifting of Social, Religious, Political and Business ideals;
To discharge the debt I owe to those of high and low estate who have served and sacrificed that the heritage of American citizenship might be mine;
To honor and respect law, to serve my fellow men, and to uphold the ideals and institutions of my Country;
To implant the life-giving, society-building spirit of Service and Comradeship in my social and business relationships;
To better serve in Unity with those seeking better conditions, better understanding and greater opportunities for all.

Your Duties as Captain of the Day
Every once in a while, we all need a little reminder of what responsibilities befall the Captain of the Day. In order to ensure our meetings run smoothly and are enjoyable for all, the Captain of the Day must step up to the task.
The Captain of the Day is responsible for obtaining a speaker for their day. If the Captain cannot locate a speaker, Ursula Joosten and Jerry Hall may be able to obtain back-up speakers. Be sure to check the schedule to see when you are scheduled to be Captain of the Day. You should obtain a speaker well in advance of your scheduled date and let Rob Nuddleman know the speaker's name so he can put it in the Exciter.
The Captain of the Day will introduce the speaker. Even if Jerry or Ursula obtain the speaker, the Captain should sit near the speaker at lunch, introduce him/herself and learn about the speaker. That way the Captain will be able to provide a nice introduction and will help the speaker feel invited and important.
The Captain of the Day should arrive early to the meeting because the Captain is responsible for handing out badges, welcoming guests, and selling raffle tickets before the meeting begins.
If you cannot fulfill your obligations as Captain, you are responsible for trading with another member and notifying Rob Nuddleman and Phil Griego about the change. That way Rob can modify the schedule in the Exciter and Phil will know who will introduce the speaker at the meeting.
The Captain's role is very important. The Captain ensures the meetings are filled with interesting content and helps guests and speakers feel welcome. It is also an opportunity to enhance your own public speaking skills. With everybody's cooperation, the Captain will lead the way to a better meeting.
