We are now at a critical time to ensure funding for next year's projects. Remember the crunch we had in September when we had to scramble in order to fund a successful Christmas party? Yeah, we pulled it out, but we can prevent the trauma if we act now.
Cioppino Night (May 3) is our biggest fundraiser of the year. The time is NOW to line up auction items. I've come up with two ways each member can help:
1. Approach two corporate or other funding sources to request a donation; or
2. Send at least two letters requesting donations for the May 3 Cioppino Night.
Think in terms of packages for big auction items: dinner and show; hotel and breakfast; nails/massage and haircut; fishing trip and cabin - and take the initiative in setting up the deal.
Regarding our new rewards program and weekly prize drawing, I am reprinting the rules of the game, as follows. Remember the goals of the contest are threefold: to gain readership of the Exciter, to increase attendance at weekly meetings, and to encourage guests.
Every week I will have a prize to award. You have two ways to earn a chance to win the prize. First, every member who brings a guest, including spouse if s/he is a prospective member, will be given one chance for every guest s/he brings to that meeting. Second, every member who gives the correct answer to the trivia question presented in the prior week's Exciter (if no Exciter, I will offer the question at the meeting) will be given a chance. To be entered, you must give me the answer in writing prior to or at the meeting.
Consistent with the goals of the contest, I am not obligated to repeat the question at the meeting AND you must be present at the meeting at the time of the drawing to win. Every guest qualifies you for an entry. A guest speaker or a guest spouse qualifies you for an entry only if s/he is a prospective member and likely to join within the next 3 months. To avoid embarrassment of the speaker or spouse, you must tell me BEFORE entries are distributed whether the guest is a prospective member.
Finally, I'd like to hear from you if you have any ideas in mind about a project you'd like to do in the future (not necessarily this year).
Yours in Exchange,
Lori

Exchange has an exciting opportunity to drastically increase its membership in the coming months. This will be accomplished through a special Trial Membership Program called Stand Up America, approved the National Board of Directors at their September board meeting. In order to succeed, the action of every member is needed.
A limited number (18,000) of Trial Membership Cards will be distributed to clubs and members, offering a free 90-day membership in Exchange. Clubs will receive a credit on their national dues billing for each Trial Membership on their April 2002 quarterly dues billing. The $10.00 initiation fee will be deferred until 90 days from the receipt of the Trial Membership Certification Cards.
The Stand Up America Program will run during the months of January and February only. The goal is to recruit a minimum of 1,000 trial members nationally during the months of January and February. Trial members are actual members of the National Exchange. They will receive the same material as all other new Exchange Club members, including a membership pin, new member packet and a subscription to Exchange Today. The sponsor for the trial member will be asked to serve as mentor to the new club member and provide assistance in continuing his or her membership. Past Club President also make great mentors.

Check out our website to see the work of Diane
Lopez, our new Webmaster. February is Nominations Month for the Club elections that will occur in March. The Election Report is due to National by the 15th of April. It can be filed electronically through the NEC website. New Club Officers, and other exchangites, are encouraged to attend a dynamite educational seminar scheduled for the Saturdays in May and early June. This is a "must do" for new club officers. Don't miss out! Candidates for District Office. The district organization's fundamental purpose is to provide the guidance and mentoring wherever it may reside within the district. To administer this provisioning process, the district needs motivated, dedicated, experienced Exchangites to serve as facilitators in the divisional areas and as officers of the district organization. To be a candidate for a district office to be elected at the District convention in June, an Exchangite need only satisfy the prerequisites and conditions outlined in Article X of the Bylaws, and forward their name to Ed Harvey or Rick Gordon, by May 20th. A form for a suggested candidate to complete is on the district web site. |
