Cioppino - What a Time . . . What a Success.

The 4th Annual Cioppino Night Fundraiser was a rousing success. Not only did we have more people than ever before (between 200 and 225), we raised more money than ever: more than $7,500.00. Attendees had a wonderful time and we received many compliments on this year's event. The Jr. Exchange Club did a wonderful job serving and helping out. We certainly could not have done it without them.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event wonderful. A few members (and their guests) deserve special recognition:

I'm sure I've forgotten several people that were enormously helpful. I regret it if my memory fails to recognize anyone who helped. For those I absent-mindedly forgot, THANK YOU!

Installation Banquet tentatively set for June 18, 2004

The Board of Directors is looking at June 18, 2004, for the annual installation and awards banquet. If you have a conflict with that date, let Jerry know. Otherwise, save the date!

Wanna Rock-N-Roll?

Phil Griego's band, Off the Record, which is playing at our annual Cioppino Night, is also playing a gig at the Park Plaza Hotel's Bamboo Lounge on May 21st. Bring a friend and help support your fellow exchangite!

The Exchange Club Social to the Quicksilver Mines tentatively planned for May 23 has been canceled for the time being. We will try to set something else up in the near future.

Since the social has been put off, how about we all make an effort to support Phil's Band next Friday evening at the Park Plaza! (see above)

BRING A GUEST CONTEST

Enjoy a panoramic view of Silicon Valley from the 17th Floor of the Fairmont Plaza Building while dining at the Club's 4 Star restaurant! But you have to play to win by joining our membership drive contest called "Bring a Guest Contest."

Starting May 1, and continuing through July 31, Dave Mowbray will keep a tally of all members who bring guests who are prospective members to every meeting. He's going to keep score. The idea is that if we bring a guest, its up to the club as a whole to sell the guest on the idea of joining Exchange. To count towards the contest, the guest must be a prospect for membership. Dave has the responsibility of making this determination before tallying the results at each meeting. He will also announce each member's standings in the competition each week. At the end of the contest, Dave will announce the winner who has brought the most prospects to regular meetings. The winner will receive a dinner for two at the luxurious Silicon Valley Capital Club.

Join the Fun, Bring a Guest.

STAUPP, William Louis: entered into rest Monday May 3, 200, in Los Altos, CA at the age of 88. A private internment will be held in Oak Hill Memorial Park and a memorial service for family and friends will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to: Guide for the Blind, P.O. Box 3950 San Rafael, CA 94912-3950.

Marian Staupp reports that while there is not a date for the memorial, yet, she will let us know when it is. Bill Staupp was our oldest member, having joined the Exchange Club shortly after it was charted. Even as his health declined, Bill remained an adamant supporting of the Exchange Club and our efforts. Our prayers go out to Marian and the rest of Bill's family.

To honor and respect law, to serve my fellow men, and to uphold the ideals and institutions of my Country;

To implant the life-giving, society-building spirit of Service and Comradeship in my social and business relationships;

To better serve in Unity with those seeking better conditions, better understanding and greater opportunities for all.
