July 1st marks the beginning of a new fiscal year for the Exchange Club of San Jose. As we celebrate our Country's independence, let's remember to share the joy of the Exchange Club with others. Whether it's bringing a guest to a meeting, joining a committee to reach or help others, or simply letting our friends and families know about the work we do, everyone can do something.
While increasing our membership is one of our goals, we cannot forget the reasons we want to increase our membership. For me, I want more people to experience the joy of being an Exchangite so that we can help more people through programs of service. Over the holiday, consider why you are a member of Exchange and ask yourself who do you know that has the same desires.
Happy 4th!
Last issue we let everyone who did not attend the Installation Banquet know that Marian Staupp was announced as this year's Exchangite of the Year. Marian sent the club another letter thanking the club for the award. You can view the letter at: http://www.sjexchangeclub.com/MarianStauppltr.pdf
Only ONE month left on the Bring a Guest Contest. Bring at least three guests between now and July 31 and you may win a wonderful dinner for two at the Capital Club.
With his usual unabashed humility, our very own Rob Nuddleman accepted this year's nomination as Exchangite of the Year for the California-Nevada District Exchange. Last year's Exchangite of the Year for our local club, Rob continues to give of himself and encourage others to do the same. With his quick wit and offbeat sense of humor, he's more than just a handsome package of manliness.
Rob is the second San Jose Exchangite to receive the District Exchangite of the Year (Former member Dave Erisman was the first in 1994). Rob extends his gratitude to each member of the Exchange Club of San Jose. As Rob aptly put it: "The wonderful thing about being a member of the Exchange Club of San Jose is that collectively we can help so many more people, and make such a bigger impact, than any of us could do alone." It is that spirit that makes Rob such an excellent choice as this year's recipient of the award.
Our next Board Meeting (the first under our newly elected/appointed regime) will be held on July 13th at 12:15 p.m. at the Park Plaza. All members are encouraged to attend. The following items will be on the agenda:
All Members are encouraged to attend the Board Meeting. Your input will help make this club better for all.
Last week Keith Ducote joined us again and delighted us with more pictures from China. Keith's vast knowledge of China's history and culture made the presentation very interesting. We hope to seek Keith in the future.
Brenda Hoover and Maryann Bettencourt came as guests. Maryann works with Allstate insurance and is a member of Phil Griego's Chamber of Commerce group. Brenda is not only next week's speaker, she turned in an application for membership. Brenda also brought the application of another potential member. Way to go Steve Radunich for finding such a great person to join our club.

Covenant of Service
Accepting the divine privilege, of single and collective responsibility as life's noblest gift, I covenant with my fellow Exchangites:
To consecrate my best energies to the uplifting of Social, Religious, Political and Business ideals;
To discharge the debt I owe to those of high and low estate who have served and sacrificed that the heritage of American citizenship might be mine;
To honor and respect law, to serve my fellow men, and to uphold the ideals and institutions of my Country;
To implant the life-giving, society-building spirit of Service and Comradeship in my social and business relationships;
To better serve in Unity with those seeking better conditions, better understanding and greater opportunities for all.
