August 28, 2004 Development Meeting
On August 28th, at 2:00 p.m. we will have our annual Development Meeting at Dan Webb's house. The Development Meeting is where we decide which projects we are going to work on and what resources are necessary to get the projects done. Everyone should make an effort to be there so they can make sure they get on the project they want.
There will be a Pot Luck BBQ after the meeting. Spouses and significant others are welcome! The following people are signed up to bring food:

Out of approximately 1,500 salesmen, our very own Steve Radunich was designated as United Van Lines "Salesman of the Month." While no surprise to those of us who know Steve as a great salesman (which makes him a wonderful contribution to our club), this was the first time someone from Steve's office received this distinguished award. Way to go Steve!
Dan Webb has Football Pool Tickets from the District. For a $25.00 donation, you get a booklet with the opportunity to win $50.00 on each game shown in the booklet. There are 20 games in each book. The money raised goes toward the District Youth Programs. $5.00 from each booklet sold goes directly to our local club's project fund. Contact Dan for more information

Covenant of Service
Accepting the divine privilege, of single and collective responsibility as life's noblest gift, I covenant with my fellow Exchangites:
To consecrate my best energies to the uplifting of Social, Religious, Political and Business ideals;
To discharge the debt I owe to those of high and low estate who have served and sacrificed that the heritage of American citizenship might be mine;
To honor and respect law, to serve my fellow men, and to uphold the ideals and institutions of my Country;
To implant the life-giving, society-building spirit of Service and Comradeship in my social and business relationships;
To better serve in Unity with those seeking better conditions, better understanding and greater opportunities for all.

Jim Helmer - Santa Clara County Transportation Authority
Jim Helmer spoke at our last meeting regarding some of the projects going on with our road and transportation systems in Santa Clara County. Jim mentioned a public hearing that will take place at San Jose State University on August 27th regarding businesses and reform. The governor and others will be there to discuss ways to increase businesses in California. Jim also informed us that BART is definitely in the works, but it will be some time before we the project is completed. Jim also invited the club to visit the Transportation Center to view some of the network that keeps our lights lit, and our stop signs stopping.
