And Now, A Word From Our President . . .

Hear ye, hear ye, the spirits are about to speak. Yes, the Christmas spirit is about to speak good tidings and cheer for all as we don our gay apparel for the holiday season.

As is our tradition, SJ Exchange gathers together for fun and frolic every Christmas season. I will host this year's festivities. I will provide soft drinks wine and beer and appetizers. Please bring any other beverage of your choice. Also bring a dish to share with others and a white elephant gift for the gift exchange. Those with musical instruments, please bring them. We will Christmas carol through the neighborhood if we have time.

Please sign up up for one of the following categories of goodies:

salad
dessert
meat or fish
pasta/potato/rice
vegetable
bread

Festivities start at 6:30 PM, Saturday December 7, 2002, 6846 Trinidad Drive, San Jose, California 95113, 408-268-3246. Coming from 280 Vine south till it turns into Almaden Expressway or take 85 to Almaden Expressway and turn south. Go past Blossom Hill, Coleman, Redmond, Camden, next left is Trinidad, turn left, house is two story on the left with white balcony out front.

On a more somber note...

Some of our older members may remember Exchangite Don Vader, one of our greatest members from the era of what I call the "Old Guard" I just got word from former Exchangite Jim Jones that Don passed away this week. Don's memorial is Friday November 1, 5:00 PM at the Church of the Valley, 19001 San Ramon Valley Blvd., San Ramon. Take 680 to Bollinger Canyon exit, cross freeway and turn left on San Ramon Blvd. The church is at the foot of the hills under a big white cross. Family requests donation to American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

Speaking of the SJPOA . . . Their 2003 Annual Drive is happening NOW! The men and women of the San Jose Police Officers' Association are dedicated to preserving our community, state and this great nation. To this end, the SJPOA urgently seeks your generous support with their annual fund raising drive.

The SJPOA does not solicit donations via telephone and does not use telemarketers. They rely on the generous donations of their supporters. Your donations are 100% tax-deductible and will be used solely to benefit the SJPOA membership and further its purposes.

Let's not forget that the SJPOA not only makes significant financial contributions to a number of our projects, they donate their hall for our annual Xmas Party for the underprivileged youth.

For more information, or to make a donation, please call 408-298-1133.
